Through the incredible generosity of friends and strangers we’ve been able to begin to rebuild!! During the past couple weeks, more than 130 of you have donated to our stolen van fund. This huge dose of support has instilled in us a renewed faith in the universe and an unshakable urge to keep doing what we love. We cannot thank you enough…
Our van was found in Oakland yesterday- gutted of instruments, pillaged, and trashed. What a sad sight to see… Unfortunately, Cassette Canyon is totaled. Fortunately, much of the merch (our LPs, some CDs, and T-shirts) were not taken!
We suspect that our instruments are still at large in the greater Oakland area. Please please if you see anything, send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org. For reference, here’s a link to a set of photos by Scott Simono of our house show performance in Berkeley showing much of our gear that was lost. Thanks for all your detective work thus far!
Through the incredible generosity of friends, we were able to pick up a used minivan to carry us home. We will begin making our way back to Michigan today.
We are brainstorming ways to reciprocate all of the love and support we’ve received from all of you and honor and celebrate the legacy of Cassette Canyon. Your outpouring has been overwhelming and a tremendous help in keeping a positive outlook on all that has happened.
We can’t thank everyone enough for the outpour of support we’ve received in the past 2 days. It’s been a difficult time but we’re doing what we can to move forward and hope for the best. If you’d like to donate to our stolen van and gear fund, click below.
Here is a list of the main things that were in there:
-Amati Cello (in blue hard shell case) -Lowrey Wandering Genie keyboard/organ -Lowrey Genie Mach III Plus -Larivee Acoustic Guitar -1965 Fender Pedal Bass -Mint Green Fender Excels -Holy Grail Reverb Pedal (older style, large version) -Roland SP-404 sampler (with dent on bottom face) -Lyle semi-hollow body electric guitar -Fender Vibroverb Guitar amp -Roland KC-550 Keyboard amp -Fishman acoustic amp -4 piece Adonis drumset (wood finish)
We have very sad news. Our van was stolen in Berkeley last night between midnight and 11am. It has ALL our equipment in it. Everything.
We are devastated.
We have filed a report with the police.
PLEASE if you are in the east bay area keep your eyes peeled for our beloved van. It is a white ford econo-line conversion van with turquoise stripes, a high roof, and lots of rust on the back door. Licence plate #BVW 1039.
Also please spread the word. We have no idea where it could be by now, but we have to keep hope alive.
